WSOP.com Nevada has scheduled downtime to roll out a major software upgrade at 2am on Monday, August 4. The update is described as a “technology component”, by Bill Rini, Head of Online Poker at WSOP.com.
The update will allow for easier upgrades once Nevada gaming regulators approve individual features. These include moving geolocation services to GeoComply’s Wi-fi- based geolocation to determine whether a player is within Nevada at the time of play. When launched, this will allow for a higher success rate when locating players. It may also allow some devices to be used as hot spots. The cell phone triangulation will still be used as a backup. This feature is expected to be rolled out towards the end of August or early September.
The ability to deposit cash at the Rio cage without contacting live support will be enabled upon the approval of Nevada regulators. Cage withdrawals will also be implemented. These features are expected in late August or early September.
This update rolls out the infrastructure needed for mobile platforms in Nevada. The mobile apps for iOS and Android are not yet approved. When they are, this will allow the apps to be launched in a timely manner.
Immediate features that will be available include rebuy and addon enhancements, a quick view for the last hand, and more tournament details in the lobby. The update will also include a warning to players that are registered for a sit and go and try to log out of the software.
The WSOP.com software update is expected to take about eight hours. The Window platform is the only one receiving the upgrade at this time. The Mac version will be upgraded with these features in the near future.
